3 Secrets to Positive Thinking

Hi, it’s Jennifer Alexander and I just read an article on WebMD titled Depression: Using Positive Thinking.

The article said that depression is an illness that makes a person feel sad and hopeless much of the time. It's different than feeling a little sad or down. Depression can be treated with counseling or medicine, or both.  It went on to say that positive thinking also can help prevent or control depression.

I love this!  Positive thinking is vitally important in our lives as it plays a big role in the moods we experience. First comes a thought into our mind, then a feeling into our body and then we take action based upon our thoughts and feelings which in turn equals the results we have in our lives.

So if you don’t like the results you’re getting, first turn to your thoughts to find out what it is you’re thinking about.  You’ll likely find that it’s a bit on the pessimistic side.

Many people spend a lot of hard work trying to change everyone and everything around them thinking that their environment is the reason for their depression when in fact it’s their own view of the world that is causing them to feel blue.

It goes like this... I choose the meanings I give to my experiences. Nobody is in control of my thoughts but me. This is true now and always has been. Other people may influence my thoughts but I’m the one who makes the final decision. Because I’ve chosen every meaning I’ve ever placed on things I can re-choose meanings that support me now so that I can create positive results in my life.
